Capturing digital memories at the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles) in Pisa, Italy – November 2011

I will be the first to admit that I take TONS of pictures! After looking through one of my photo journals a friend recently asked, “When you travel do you spend all of your time taking pictures, or do you actually enjoy the journey?” My answer: “Yes”–to both! Generally, I take two cameras any time I travel–a larger Canon EOS Rebel with interchangeable lenses, and a small SONY Cyber-shot with a 15x zoom lens and panoramic capabilities. Whenever it is not convenient to carry the bulkier Canon (for example, climbing to the top of the Tower of Pisa or the Duomo in Florence), I rely on the small SONY. The photo quality is amazingly good–many of the best shots from my Italy trip were taken with the SONY. Additionally, I carry my iphone and use that camera–especially for easy uploading to social media. I am continually looking for the next fabulous shot! In short, photography during my travels does not lessen my enjoyment of the experience. Rather, I have a wonderful time and end up with lots of great pics that enable me to relive the trip for years to come.

Update: I have upgraded from a Canon to a Nikon and am in the process of learning the nuts and bolts of the new camera.

So, what are you thinking?
